In addition to the radar facilities used to locate aircraft, DFS also operates systems that help pilots with navigation, such as VORs (very high frequency omnidirectional radio range). These beacons transmit radio signals in all directions, hence omnidirectional, which can be received on board aircraft. In this way, pilots always know their exact position. Currently, DFS operates 60 of these facilities.
