Purposes and legal basis of the data processing
Data are processed in order to handle complaints related to aircraft noise pursuant to the German Environmental Information Act (UIG). DFS as a public body handles such complaints. Personal data are stored in this connection. The purpose of storing personal data over a longer period of time is to ensure the professional handling of complaints related to aircraft noise (consistency of information, repetition avoidance - identical replies -, defence against abusive requests as allowed by law, ability to refer to earlier replies, preservation of evidence).

Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR and Article 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Section 1 of the German Freedom of Information Act (IFG) and Section 3 of the German Environmental Information Act (UIG).

Recipients or categories of recipients of the personal data
Data are used within DFS by the department responsible for political and environmental affairs, by the departments processing the data as well as by tower and control centre staff.

Transmission of personal data to a third country
This will not happen.

Retention period of personal data
Your data will be stored for seven years after collection. Then your request/complaint, including all personal data, will be automatically deleted. If you file another complaint with DFS within this period, the period will restart on the day of entry. Any complaints that already exist at this time will remain unaffected by the new period and will be deleted upon expiry of the relevant period.
