DFS makes donation to refugee facilities

Furniture and furnishings and other items from the recently closed DFS guest house have been donated to different refugee facilities in local municipalities

14.01.2016.- The donation to various refugee facilities in the region includes more than 200 mattresses, 140 box-spring beds, 130 desks and other furnishings including thousands of sheets and towels.

Among the recipients are the town of Langen, the district of Offenbach and an organisation that helps refugees in the town of Egelsbach. The fourth recipient is the Workers' Samaritan Federation (ASB), a German aid and welfare organisation that is running a transit shelter for refugees located in the industrial zone of Langen just down the street from DFS headquarters. On Tuesday, a logistics company began to move furniture and around 500 boxes.

The donation was made possible by the closure of the DFS guest house at the end of 2015. The time since the closure has been used to assess what things could be donated and then to sort and, if needed, clean the items. All electronic devices, such as television sets or washing machines and clothes dryers underwent a safety check. DFS also paid all the costs for logistics and transport.

DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the German air navigation service provider, is a State-owned company under private law with 5,650 employees as at 31 December 2015.
