Commercial apprenticeships

This apprenticeship (Kauffrau/Kaufmann für Büromanagement) will take you 2.5 years from the first introductory event to sitting the Chamber of Commerce examination. You will learn everything you need to know to work in an office in the aviation sector. The avenues you can go down after you finished are many and varied, from working in HR to assisting the board of directors. Your good performance will be rewarded and we offer jobs to 84 percent of our apprentices on completion. You can rely on us to find the right position for you. When you have found your feet in your new job, we will help you with your personal and professional development with such measures as regular appraisal interviews and training courses.

A solid theoretical foundation.

You will receive your commercial training at the Max-Eyth-Berufsschule, a vocational training school located in Dreieich-Sprendlingen, not far from Langen. You will attend classes there twice a week in accounting, business and IT – a perfect chance to see if you have a head for figures. During your in-house training courses, you will expand your commercial knowledge. You will learn how to give effective presentations and master the world of project management at these in-house courses.

Put yourself to the test.

During your apprenticeship, you will spend periods of several months at a time in the classic corporate departments, such as human resources, procurement and management accounting. You will also spend time in areas specific to the world of air navigation services. In the department Air Traffic Management: Operations and Strategy, you will support the organisational processes that allow our controllers to do their jobs. In another department you will have to calculate air navigation charges, which is how DFS earns its money. Another core area at DFS is project management. You will learn to plan, control and manage. This work requires top-level organisational skills.
