Tower simulators

The Academy operates two state-of-the-art tower simulation systems. The two-dimensional tower simulator is used to train up to 20 persons at five simulation stations. It gives a two-dimensional bird’s-eye view of the airport to be controlled and allows the trainee controller to control simulated aircraft and aircraft movements.

The three-dimensional tower simulator with a 360° perspective offers extremely realistic training conditions in terms of displaying relevant information sources, dynamics of traffic flows, weather phenomena, lighting system for aerodrome control and performing flight procedures and taxiing procedures. It allows experienced controllers to perform proficiency and emergency training, and trainee controllers to learn the basics of aerodrome and approach control.

The tower simulator displays all information systems currently used in air traffic control, including the operating functions of these systems. And it facilitates the intensive training of four controllers in different aerodrome control positions.
