Radar simulators

Radar controllers are trained on radar simulation systems, particularly in the last phase of their training at the Academy to prepare them for their future tasks. These simulators display realistic images of airspaces, including aircraft in these airspaces and interfaces to adjacent airspaces, as well as the procedures to be applied in air traffic control.

Simulation pilots man the simulated aircraft and carry out the instructions issued by the trainee controllers. Up to sixteen controllers can train simultaneously in different positions and sectors on two radar simulation systems. The simulation systems are operated on a shift basis, generally between 7:00 hrs and 23:00 hrs.
