DFS launches new career website

The new career portal is designed to be modern, attractive and easy to navigate. The goal behind the change was clear: ignite passion for a career at DFS

26.04.2017.- DFS is a special employer because of the special task that has been delegated to the 2,000 air traffic controllers, engineers and IT professions at the company: ensure German airspace remains safe. This is a task that carries a lot of responsibility for our highly qualified professionals and trainees – working either as air traffic controllers directly with pilots, as engineers for our technical facilities or as IT professionals in our Systems House. "DFS offers a host of demanding jobs that are anything but monotonous. It is not enough to be good to do these jobs. You have to be the best of the best. To cope with the rise in traffic volume in the future, we have put in place recruiting efforts tailored to the different needs of target groups in our focus and design our HR marketing for the long term," said Dr Michael Hann, Managing Director Human Resources at DFS.

The challenge: DFS as an employer and place to receive training was not present enough in people's minds. The company has been working on making DFS better known as an employer and place to forge a career for some time now. The company offers a range of opportunities to get to know the company directly, attends fairs and produces information both for potential candidates and for schools. The relaunch of the career website is an important element of these efforts. This site will act as the most important recruitment channel and source of information.
Pupils, graduates and professionals can access information tailored to their needs in the form of texts, videos and images, including testimonials from current employees. All texts are available in German and English. The corporate culture and the DFS vision round off the facts and figures provided. There is a social media newsroom which will have posts bundled from Facebook, Instagram and, in the future, XING (the career-oriented networking site).

One focus of the career website is on presenting the job of air traffic controllers. DFS aims to attract school leavers and graduates of bachelor programmes to this career choice. "Becoming an air traffic controller" is a separate section of this site where detailed information on the job, duties and entry requirements are presented in a clear and structured way. A list of contact people can also be found there.
The relaunch was delivered by the Westpress agency, a specialist in HR marketing. The result can be found at http://karriere.dfs.de/. It offers an insight in the world of air navigation services.
