Punctuality

Next to safety, punctuality is a decisive quality indicator for DFS. Existing routes and procedures are continuously optimised to ensure a high level of punctuality.

Delays caused by air traffic control are generated when flow management measures have to be implemented, because of bad weather for example. The purpose of these measures is to support safety so that controllers do not face a potentially dangerous overload situation. Of all flights in 2018, 11.3 percent were affected by such air traffic flow management measures, meaning around 89 percent arrived delay-free at their destination.

DFS defines as delay-free those flights which have less than a 15-minute delay under the control of the air navigation services.
