The DFS Air Navigation Services Academy is the training competency centre of the DFS. We conduct our training for air traffic controllers in various highly complex courses for ab-initio students and ready entry controllers. To assure the high quality of training in times of increasing training demand, we are searching for qualified simulation coaches to complete and support our training team.

Activities / main tasks



  • As an OJTI/STDI licensed controller you will work as simulation coach with teaching and mentoring tasks. You will convey subject-matter expertise in practical simulation lessons. You will contribute toward the establishment of the desired performance culture and standards of behaviour as endorsed by the company by instructing the goals of the DFS Competence Model.
  • As an Instructor you will be assigned to a particular area of responsibility; BAS, APS or ACS to conduct simulation exercises. You will prepare and mark practical exercises and populate the required documentation. You will provide teaching and training to our students in theoretical and/or practical lessons.
  • As part of the training team you assure the quality of ab-initio and further development training, you contribute to the ongoing development of practical training content and simulation exercises and are responsible for ensuring that these comply in full with the latest teaching and training curricula.
  • You intervene promptly and professionally in social conflicts and help to resolve them. You are willing to maintain and expand on your own professional and methodological skills and support trainees in compliance with the Academy's guiding principles

Das zeichnet Sie aus

  • Fully qualified air traffic controller with at least eight years' professional experience of which a minimum of four years professional experience instructing on air traffic control simulators or as an on-the-job training instructor
  • Extensive experience with different sector families (approach radar, area radar) and knowledge of operational procedures and systems of the air traffic services. In particular with regard to Area based delivery, competence shall include systems based ATM solutions experience.
  • Outstanding level of methodological and didactic knowledge – as evidenced by instructor qualifications (such as OJTI/STDI)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey information in German or English
