Aufsichtsfunktion
DFS is wholly owned by the Federal Republic of Germany. Its Supervisory Board comprises, inter alia, representatives from the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance and also two members from the Ministry of Defence to represent the military interests. According to the statutory regulations, the Supervisory Board is responsible for advising and supervising the Board of Managing Directors. The Supervisory Board is largely involved in decisions of fundamental importance to the company. Representatives of the Ministry of Defence include the chief of branch responsible for air law and the chief of branch responsible for flight operations, flight safety and air traffic control.
The Advisory Council of DFS provides advice and support to the Board of Managing Directors in important issues related to economic and transport policies. In this council, the Chief of Staff, Air Force, represents defence policy and military aviation interests. The comprehensive civil-military provisions as well as the military expertise in administrative and technical issues ensure the management structures and the governmental intervention rights, as necessary.
