In 1999, the German air navigation services put Langen ACC into operation, one of the largest modern control centres in Europe. Air traffic controllers handle up to 4,000 flights from this control centre every day. DFS implemented this project itself, including the related system integration. Over the past few years, DFS has been designing and building towers at major airports in line with higher technical and operational requirements. Modern tools and state-of-the-art technology ensure optimal working conditions in these towers as well as safe and efficient flight operations.

At the same time, DFS has also developed "integrated tower solutions". Apart from covering technical and operational issues, this also includes different options for responsibility-sharing between the airport operator and air navigation service provider.
