New chairman of the DFS Supervisory Board

Professor Klaus-Dieter Scheurle, State Secretary, replaces Robert Scholl as chairman

Today Mr Klaus-Dieter Scheurle was elected as the new chairman of the Supervisory Board of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH.

The 55-year-old jurist began his professional career at the German Federal Ministry of Justice in 1983, before moving to the Bavarian State Ministry for Federal and European Affairs in 1985. From 1989 to 1993, he worked for the CDU/CSU parliamentary party; subsequently, he began working for the then Federal Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (BMPT). He was head of the Minister’s Office before becoming head of the policy principles division and taking charge of the privatisation of the German Federal Post Office and the initial public offering of Deutsche Telekom AG. He was head of the Regulation Division in the BMPT. He later became the President of the German Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Posts, where he was responsible for the auctioning of UMTS licences.

After eight years at the Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse and a short spell working as a freelance management consultant, Professor Scheurle became Permanent State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development in 2009. Furthermore, he has been an honorary professor at Munich university, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU), since 2006.

A further change has taken place in the composition of the Supervisory Board among the representatives of the Shareholder: Ms Christiane Wietgrefe-Peckmann, senior principal at the Federal Ministry of Finance, resigned. She is succeeded by Dr Angelika Kreppein, who is also a senior principal at the Federal Ministry of Finance.
