Langen / Germany, 9 September 2009 Crossing Europe with DFS charts: New aeronautical charts for Poland
DFS has added two chart sheets for Poland to the visual operation chart series "Visual 500" for the neighbouring countries of Germany. One chart depicts the northwestern area from Szczecin to Gdansk and Bydgoszcz. The second one shows the western region between Zielona Góra, Lodz and Wroclaw. German and Czech border regions are also shown. The "Visual 500" charts have a scale of 1:500 000 and the same clear and concise layout as the ICAO charts of Germany. DFS already offers charts for Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic. Since 2009, the charts have been published in German and English as well as in the national language of the relevant country. Hartmut Wiethaup, responsible for the production of charts at the German Aeronautical Publication Agency of DFS, says: "The uniform charts allow pilots to fly from Gdansk (Poland) to Manston near Dover (United Kingdom), which is depicted on the chart for Belgium, or from Jutland (Denmark) to Bolzano (Italy), which is shown on the Austrian chart." Jan-Eric Putze, sales manager, explains: "With the aeronautical charts and other publications and products, we are expanding our portfolio aimed at Europe." The chart sheets for Poland contain information on the Polish airspaces as of June 2009 and the airfields. Roads and motorways are displayed in detail. On the reverse side of the chart, pilots can find further information on topics such as ATIS and meteorological broadcasts. The exact coordinates of the VFR reporting points for entering the control zones are also provided. The chart sheets cost € 11.90 each and can be purchased online at www.dfs-aviationshop.de or from other distributors of aeronautical products. The digital chart cover and the geographic overview on the European areas covered by "Visual 500" are available upon request.
