Langen, 24 January 2007 Viewing flight progress at the click of a mouse
Online display of flight progress for Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Munich Now arrivals and departures to/from the airports of Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Munich can be viewed on the German-language site of www.dfs.de. More details on the progress of flights to and from Frankfurt Airport are also provided on the DFS homepage. DFS has been offering this service for Frankfurt since July 2005, but it has expanded the functionalities of this system dubbed STANLY_Track. Visitors to the German-language section of www.dfs.de ("Fluglärm und Umwelt") now have a more exact picture of the flight progress and flight level at 100 ft (approx. 30 metres). History symbols facilitate the tracking of the flight progress. Even flight tracks up to 14 days old can still be viewed on the DFS homepage; they are displayed with a precision of 1000 ft (300 metres). All flights under instrument flight rules – usually the large passenger and cargo aircraft – are displayed on a topographical chart. For security reasons, the flights are shown with a time-lag of 30 minutes. The user can select the scale of the chart using the available zoom function. Due to technical reasons, the service is not available for smaller aircraft flying under visual flight rules. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights. Staff coordinate around 10,000 aircraft movements in German airspace every day, and more than three million movements every year. In addition, DFS is represented in the Eurocontrol Centre in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and in the control towers of the 16 international German airports. DFS provides training and consultancy services around the world and develops and sells air traffic control, surveillance and navigation systems. The company's portfolio also comprises flight-relevant data, aeronautical publications and aeronautical information services.
