Langen, 6 February 2007 Aircraft proximity in Düsseldorf
At Düsseldorf Airport this morning an aircraft proximity occurred between two aircraft. An Italian aircraft of the type Embraer 145 crossed the runway even though a Eurowings aircraft was taking off at the same time, causing a runway incursion. The Italian pilot had confirmed the air traffic controller's instruction to wait but then continued to taxi onto the runway. The Eurowings aircraft, an Avroliner B463, flew over the Italian aircraft at a low altitude, but continued its flight safely. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH has reported the occurrence to the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation, which will investigate it as a serious incident. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights.
