Langen, 28 April 2006 Girls’ Day at DFS
Teenagers invited to visit the company in Langen Last Thursday 56 school girls saw for themselves at DFS in Langen that the air navigation services are not a male-dominated industry, rather they also offer attractive career opportunities for women. The girls were highly impressed at having the opportunity to look over the air traffic controllers’ shoulders as they worked in Europe's largest radar control centre. According to Thomas Machate, head of training at DFS in Langen, it was "an excellent day and the girls were delighted to be here". The 13- to 17-year-olds were also thrilled to be able to experience in the simulator how air traffic over Germany is handled. The young ladies were informed about the different traineeships at DFS. Apart from the training of air traffic controllers, DFS also offers traineeships in commercial and technical professions. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights.
