Langen, June 2006 Airservices Australia signs cooperation agreement for commercial business development with German air navigation service provider DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH
Both air navigation service providers have signed an agreement to jointly pursue aviation business opportunities in several Gulf States as well as selected countries in Asia. Airservices Australia Chief Executive Officer, Greg Russell, said the cooperation arrangement included development of services or proposals to secure commercial business specifically in the Gulf region, in India and China. “Both Airservices and DFS have independently identified these regions as major growth areas of the future in airports, air traffic control management and associated airside business,” he said. Dieter Kaden, CEO of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH added “We are looking forward to the outcome of this commercial partnership and the close cooperation between two leading world air navigation service providers”. The rate of air traffic growth and infrastructure development in the three target locations is one of the highest in the world. Forecasts for India show international and domestic passenger traffic growth of about 12 per cent annually until 2009 with freight to increase by 10 per cent annually over the next five years. China’s airports have achieved capacity growth of 13 per cent for the past six years and it is estimated 29 major Chinese airports will reach a saturation point by 2010. Mr Kaden said both organisations had complementary capabilities and resources and it was to their mutual benefit to cooperate in identifying prospective customer opportunities, preparing business proposals and providing joint services. “We are already sharing market intelligence and analysis and will be working over the next six months to develop specific marketing programmes,” Mr. Russel said. “The initial plan is to organise sales missions to the Gulf region in the next few months in addition to developing strategies to market air traffic control, tower and airside products and services in China and India.” Contact: David Gray, Airservices Public Affairs (+61) 2 6257 2828 Axel Raab, Head of Public Relations, Press Officer (+49) 6103 707-4160 DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees.
