Langen, 13 April 2005 DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH at the AERO 2005 (21 – 24 April, Friedrichshafen trade fair)
"Lufthansa 123 identified“, “Speedbird 345 descend to flight level 150", "Lufthansa 664 contact arrival": These are the short yet precise instructions issued to the pilot by the controller. Visitors to the DFS stand (number 514 in hall A) will get an insight into the work performed by controllers (from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. - on Sunday until 4 p.m.). They will see simulation exercises being performed at an original controller working position. The controller uses flight plan data for each individual aircraft and up-to-date weather information to ensure that each aircraft and its passengers are guided safely to their destination – be it a sun holiday or a business meeting. Apart from this demonstration, DFS invites visitors to test their own skills as an air traffic controller and shows a live picture on a radar screen of all aircraft which are flying over Friedrichshafen and the rest of Germany. In addition, there are fifty prizes to be won. First prize is a flight for two people with SunExpress to Antalya. DFS is offering a special service to general aviation pilots who fly to the AERO in their own aircraft: During the opening hours of the fair, pilots can avail of pre-flight information services, such as flight plan filing or coordination of airport slots, directly at the DFS stand. Briefing officers from the Advanced Aeronautical Information Service (AAIS) are there to perform additional services. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights.
