The market of low-cost carriers - Looking for allies
It is getting crowded in the market segment of the low-cost carriers. After its plans to take over Deutsche BA failed, easyJet – the second largest low-cost airline in Europe – is again trying to gain a foothold in the German market. At the same time, an increasing number of new airlines are entering the market. Particularly air services to the new EU Member States are on the rise. Here is an analysis.
DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a State-owned company under private law and has 5,200 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual handling of flights. Staff coordinate around 10,000 aircraft movements in German airspace every day, and more than three million movements every year.
