Objectives
Improving the current safety standards and the overall efficiency of general air traffic in Europe are the goals pursued by the initiative and the European statutory instruments to create a Single European Sky. In other words, capacity is to be optimised in such a way that the requirements of all airspace users are met and delays minimised. The following key objectives are being pursued in this connection:
- Significantly enhancing safety in the light of growing traffic volumes
- Supporting the concept of handling a more integrated operating airspace within the context of the common European transport policy
- Defining common requirements for a safe and efficient provision of air navigation services in the Community
- Implementing interoperability between the different systems, components and related procedures of the European air traffic management network
